Groundwork for Part-Singing (Book 1) is a collection of short pieces for part-singing to be used after vocal warm-up. This book contains 60 songs including 2-part and 3-part songs. The collection is based on a step-by-step approach in developing the readiness of the choristers to sing in parts.
 
Some music selections are Philippine folksongs and games, chants, folksongs from different countries, original compositions and arrangements, and music from various periods of Western music history. Also included in this book are suggested activities to supplement some of these short pieces to make it more fun and engaging.
